Data Protection and Management at CELSI: Strengthening Our Internal Practices
Nov. 10, 2025
At the most recent CELSI Frontiers Seminar on 7 November 2025, Daryn Zholdasbay led an internal discussion on Data Protection and Data Management at CELSI, introducing the new guidelines he prepared over the summer.
The session focused on strengthening CELSI’s internal standards for data handling across research and communication activities. It covered:
- the key principles of GDPR and how they apply to CELSI’s work,
- the distinction between sensitive and non-sensitive data, and
- practical procedures for handling, storing, and processing data collected through interviews, surveys, and recordings.
The seminar also served as a platform for open discussion on refining CELSI’s internal procedures and responsibilities related to data protection. The new CELSI Data Protection Guidelines provide a clear framework for ensuring that our research practices remain both ethical and compliant with EU standards.
Many thanks to Daryn Zholdasbay for his leadership on this important topic and to all participants for their valuable contributions to improving CELSI’s internal processes.
